old EWS critical patient denied
treatment by Max Hospital, Patparganj
Dear Sir,
I have come across a shocking incident in which Max Hospital
Patpargnaj Delhi has literally denied treatment to a two days old male child
under EWS category. The relatives of the patient child have been harassed for
the last two days and the patient though very critical has not even been seen
by any doctor till the writing of this letter. This has happened when the undersigned,
who is member of the High Court appointed EWS monitoring committee has been in
the constant touch with Sh. Narender, EWS Nodal Officer of the Max Hospital and
constantly persuading him to provide free treatment to critically two days old patient.
Though assurances have been received from Sh. Narender but nothing has been
done. It is a clear case of violation of High Court orders and Delhi Government
Guidelines by the Max Hospital and warrants immediate actions against the
hospital. It is needless to say that the EWS Beds status of the Max Hospital
Patparganj in the last two days is that out of the 40 EWS Beds, 28 are lying
unoccupied.
It is submitted that Sh. Guddu ( M: 9873645990)
father of the two days old child has been living at D-569, Buland Masjid,
Shastri Park, Delhi-110053. On 17.02.2015, a son was born to him. On birth, the
child was found facing some medical problem and was taken to Chacha Nehru
Hospital which told the parents that the child was suffering from some serious
problems and on reference the child was taken to Lok Nayak Hospital on the same
day. The doctor at Lok Nayak Hospital examined the child and was advised
admission. However, the said child was denied further treatment on the alleged
ground of non-availability of the bed and was further advised to take the child
to other government hospital.
In the above back drop, Sh. Guddu approached me on 19.02.2015
along with the child narrating the entire story. Thereafter I contacted Sh.
Naredner, EWS Nodal Officer of the Max Hospital and requested him to provide
free treatment to the child under EWS category on urgent basis. Sh. Naredenr
assured me that the child would be taken care of. When Sh. Guddu took the child
to the Max Hospital on 19.02.2015 and contacted Sh. Narender. Sh. Naredner,
after taking copies of some documents from the patient’s father asked him to
come on the next day i.e. 20.02.2015. Today, when the father took the child
again to the Max Hospital in the morning
and remained there for 4 to 5 hours, the hospital did not took pain to
even get the child examined by a doctor and in last, he was told to come on the
next day i.e. 21.02.2015.
In these facts and circumstances, it is requested
that some serious action may be taken against the Max Hospital, Patparganj for
denial of treatment to an EWS critically ill patient.
